It takes intensity, tenacity, and an almost obsessive attention to detail to make it to partner in a high-powered law firm. Christy had taken on every challenge her career threw at her, full of knock-‘em-dead confidence and passion. She was living the life—and was madly in love, to boot.

Then she started losing her balance. She battled vertigo. And she found it difficult to stay focused and concentrate at work. The words, “You have relapsing multiple sclerosis,” devastated Christy. The diagnosis took a toll on her self-esteem and left her wondering what the future would hold. The fear and uncertainty were overwhelming and brought her life to a screeching halt.

“I’m not trying to be overdramatic, but the Ambassador experience truly saved me,” Christy said. “I realized that I could keep living and could experience a full life, even with MS.”

Brenda had been living with relapsing MS and hadn’t let it stop her from living her life. When Christy saw Brenda living well with relapsing MS and not giving up, Christy realized that she didn’t have to stop living or rein in all her plans simply because she had relapsing MS.

“Today, I’m living a life I couldn’t have imagined 21 years ago when I thought my life essentially was going to be over. By writing my story, I was brought face-to-face with my fears, my worries, my doubts, but also with my dreams, joys, and desires. It was a gut-wrenching process that produced great rewards!”

“Brenda showed me how important it is to be connected, and to help others feel connected, to be encouraged, and to encourage others, and to feel empowered to  live well every day, even with relapsing MS. When I look at where I am now and where I was when I was first diagnosed with relapsing MS, I don’t see myself as the same person—simply because I’ve come from a place of fear, to feeling positive.”
